SESSION 3: BECOMING THE ALTAR
Theme: “When You Burn, You Become the Portal”
Focus: Hosting the glory of God personally, not just corporately.
I. OPENING CHARGE: YOU ARE THE ALTAR NOW
“God no longer dwells in temples made with hands. He dwells in flames made with obedience.”
Romans 12:1–2 – Present your body as a living sacrifice... this is your spiritual worship. Leviticus 6:12–13 – “The fire on the altar must not go out.”
1 Corinthians 6:19 – “Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit...”
Key Revelation:
God is looking for more than places to visit—He’s looking for people to inhabit.
The altar is not just in the room. It is in your body. When you burn, you become the access point.
II. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BECOME AN ALTAR?
ALTAR = SACRIFICE + FIRE + GLORY
You are the living sacrifice.
The Holy Spirit is the fire.
Glory is the outcome.
To become the altar means your life becomes:
A resting place for the presence
A carrier of divine atmosphere
A threshold between heaven and earth
“The secret place is not just where you go. It’s who you become.”
III. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF ALTAR-CARRIERS
Moses – Exodus 34:29–35
He radiated glory from the mountain.
He didn’t build an altar—he became one.
Elijah – 1 Kings 18
He rebuilt the altar, laid himself down in obedience, and fire fell.
He carried enough fire to open and shut the heavens.
Stephen – Acts 6–7
Full of glory, his face shone like an angel.
While being stoned, he became a portal: “I see heaven opened...”
IV. CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO BECOME ALTARS
1. They Burn in the Secret Place
They don’t wait for Sunday—they meet God at 3am.
They carry holy fire that doesn’t fade when the music stops.
2. They Offer Themselves Daily
Not their schedule, not their money, not their talents—their bodies.
They live in a posture of surrender.
3. They Are Washed and Set Apart
They value holiness. They avoid defilement.
They see purity as the protocol for presence.
4. They Live with Eternal Assignment
Every step is purpose.
Their friendships, posts, finances, and speech are filtered by fire.
V. THE TECHNOLOGY OF A LIVING ALTA
“What fuels the fire? How do I stay burning?”
1. Consecration
Set apart, even when nobody sees.
No compromise. No mixture.
2. Consistency
Regular rhythms of Word, worship, and prayer.
No glory without discipline.
3. Sacrifice
You can’t burn without letting something die.
Time. Ego. Flesh. It must go on the altar.
4. Hunger
God only fills empty vessels.
Stay desperate—even in power, stay broken.
5. Obedience
Immediate obedience keeps your flame fresh.
Delayed obedience = fading fire.
VI. ENEMIES OF A BURNING ALTAR
Familiarity – treating holy things casually
Mixture – entertaining darkness privately
Pride – self-exaltation blocks divine visitation
Distraction – too busy to burn
Isolation – no community to help stoke the flame
“Fire is sustained in the context of reverence and community.”
VII. ACTIVATION: MAKE ME THE ALTAR
Step 1: Present Yourself
Kneel down or raise hands.
Speak aloud: “Lord, I place my life on the altar.”
Step 2: Renounce the Old Fires
• “I reject all strange fire—entertainment, lust, pride, fear...”
Step 3: Invite the Fire
 • “Let the fire of the Holy Spirit consume me. Make me the altar.”
Step 4: Sit in Silence
• Listen. Journal what He says or shows you.
VIII. DECREES FOR BURNING ONES
Declare with fire:
 1. “I am not a victim of atmosphere—I am the atmosphere.” 2. “Where I go, God goes. I carry the weight of glory.”
 3. “My life is not for sale—I am a consecrated altar.”
 4. “The fire on my life will not go out!”
 5. “I am a portal between realms—marked, holy, burning.”
IX. FINAL CHARGE: LIVE LIKE FLAME
“When the altar is burning, everything changes. You won’t need a title—you’ll carry fire. You won’t need a platform—people will find the glory in your voice, your walk, your life.”
Be the altar.
Carry the flame. Become the portal.
