He stood outside a massive marble building, dressed in corporate attire. I struck up a conversation—old architecture, the city, the busyness. He said, “These buildings remind me of me—stone on the outside, but all built for a purpose.”  I told him God  hadn’t forgotten that purpose. I said—the truth is sometimes we find ourselves further from the purpose than we thought we’d strayed. It’s like making an adjustment to the blueprints without making note of it. Pretty soon the whole thing has gone off course. He said “yeah, you think that’s me?” I told him that sometimes life comes at us pretty fast, and you have to react quicker than you thought, but if you don’t make note of it and pull it back on course you can find yourself further away than you really intended. He listened. He said “that’s me—I’m so far away from where I started, from the life I planned, from God, will you pray with me? He surrendered his life to Jesus right there on his lunch break.
